Moosman Bridge
Cherry County Bridges

The Cherry County Bridge is derived from actual steel truss bridges across the Niobrara River in Cherry County, Nebraska near Valentine. The owner/designer of Moosman Bridge grew up near such a bridge in rural Cherry County. These impressive structures were built late 1800’s and early 1900’s, many are renovated and working today. Moosman Bridge has introduced Douglas Fir to this timeless design which in turn softens the look and increases the appeal. The Cherry County’s open top style gives a simple geometric design of steel tension rods.

The Cherry County Bridge is composed of steel tension members and Douglas Fir compression members. The bridge floor is 3” x 12” Douglas Fir placed longitudinally on steel I-beam cross members. Moosman Bridge fastens all decking from the bottom with 4 fasteners per intersection, thus insuring long life and secure connection of decking to steel I-beams. Our bridge surface denotes the awesome strength and durability of Douglas Fir without showing a single bolt or screw from the wear surface. Moosman Bridges over 6’ in width come standard with 10,000 lb single load limit or 85 psf load.
